Box Score Game Summary

Colin Patterson's goal with just over five minutes remaining in the third period gave the Saskatchewan Huskies a 2-1 win over the University of Regina Cougars in a Canada West men's hockey game on Friday night at the Sherwood Ice Sports Centre.

With the score tied at one late in the game, Patterson notched his third goal of the season on a partial breakaway to put the Huskies up for good.

The Cougars had a few late chances to tie the contest, including a deflected point shot from Ryan Cruse with just seconds remaining, but Huskie goaltender Jeff Harvey shut the door to secure the win for the visitors.

Harvey stopped 21 of Regina's 22 shots during the game, helping the No. 4-ranked Huskies to improve to 10-4-1 on the season.

Saskatchewan opened up the scoring midway through the first period with a shorthanded goal. Travis Brisebois chipped the puck past a pinching U of R defenceman to create a 2-on-1 with Trent Adamus, then slid a pass over to Adamus who went blocker side on Brant Hilton to score his first of the season.

The score stayed 1-0 for the Huskies until the beginning of the third period, when Laurent Benjamin banged home a rebound off of a Dylan Chapman point shot to tie the game at the 26-second mark.

Hilton saved 19 of the Huskies' 21 shots, but was saddled with the loss.

The Cougars were 1-for-11 with the power play, while Saskatchewan was 0-for-4. The Huskies' Zach Sim was assessed a game misconduct for a check-from-behind with just over five minutes remaining in the second period.

The Cougars drop to 5-6-2 on the season. With 12 points, Regina is in fifth place in the conference.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday night at the Sherwood Ice Sports Centre. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
