Cougars score straight-sets win over Manitoba

The University of Regina's women's volleyball team recorded a straight sets (25-17, 25-20, 26-24) victory over the No. 3-ranked Manitoba Bisons on Saturday night at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

The victory gives the No. 7-ranked Cougars a weekend split with the Bisons.

Roxanne Olynyk led the Cougar attack with a match-high 16 kills, while Beth Clark had 10 kills and led all players with six total blocks. Tiffany Herman dished out 31 assists for the Cougars and had ten digs to record the double-double.

Kristi Hunter had 13 kills and a .444 hitting percentage to lead the Manitoba attack, and added 11 digs for the double-double. Hunter, Nicole Hall (11), and Ashley Voth (10) all broke into double figures in digs for the Bisons.

Regina had a .190 hitting percentage during the match, while Manitoba hit at a .159 clip.

The Cougars (1-1) will continue their Canada West schedule next weekend with a pair of matches at Saskatchewan.

NOTES: Rebecca Rink had a match-high 12 digs for the Cougars.
