Pandas take three-set win over Regina

One night after losing to No. 4-ranked Regina, the No. 5-ranked Alberta Pandas recorded a straight-sets victory over the Cougars on Saturday night in a Canada West women's volleyball match at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

Saturday's match started out much like Friday's match, with Alberta coming out strong and recording a win in the first set. The Pandas then recorded 25-23 and 25-22 wins in the second and third sets to clinch the match.

Tiffany Proudfoot led Alberta with 11 kills and added 12 digs. Jaki Ellis had 23 assists and 11 digs, while Jennifer Restall (12) and Erinn Brady (11) also broke into double figures in digs.

Alberta was also strong at the net, outblocking Regina by a 10-3 margin. Caitlin Buckell led the way with six block assists for the Pandas.

Meagan Onstad and Beth Clark both had seven kills for the Cougars. Onstad added ten digs for the Cougars, and first-year libero Megan Semeniuk had nine digs despite only playing in the match's final two sets.

Alberta improves to 8-2 on the season, while the Cougars fall to 6-2. The Pandas will take on Saskatchewan twice next weekend in Saskatoon, while Regina will not resume Canada West play until Jan. 8 and 9 at home against UBC.
