The University of Calgary's women's volleyball team took a four-set victory on Friday night in the first match of a best-of-three Canada West quarterfinal series at the Jack Simpson Gym in Calgary.

After dropping the first set by a 25-15, the Cougars responded by tying up the match with a 25-17 win in the second set. The No. 3-ranked Dinos, however, were able to reel off 25-14 and 28-26 wins in the third and fourth sets to clinch the match.

Holly Harper led the Dinos with 18 kills and added nine digs and six total blocks, while Laura Spence had a game-high nine total blocks for Calgary.

Tammy Jule led the Cougars with 12 kills, while libero Kelly Cowan came up with a match-high 18 digs.
