Box Score Game Summary

The Alberta Golden Bears and the Regina Cougars will play a third and deciding game in their best-of-three Canada West men's hockey semifinal series after the Golden Bears won by a 4-1 score on Saturday night at the Clare Drake Arena.

Ryan Sawka got the Cougars on the board first, scoring midway through the first period with helpers from Tanner Shultz and Cody Thoring, but that would turn out to be the Regina's only goal of the game.

Jason Fransoo scored an unassisted power play goal less than three minutes after Sawka's marker to tie the game at one apiece. The score stayed that way until late in the second period, when Ryan White scored what would be the game winner with 1:39 remaining before the end of the middle session.

Chad Klassen scored an insurance marker midway through the third period, and Ben Kilgour iced the game for Alberta with an empty netter late in the contest.

Aaron Sorochan made 17 saves in the win for the Golden Bears, while Regina's Adam Ward stopped 34 shots in the loss.

The two teams will square off in Game 3 on Sunday night at the Clare Drake Arena. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
