Box Score Game Summary
The University of Regina's men's hockey lost 5-0 to the No. 1 Alberta Golden Bears in a Canada West game at The Co-Operators Centre on Friday night.
The win takes Alberta to a record of 8-1-0, while the Cougars fall to 4-7-0.
Kyle Fecho, Johnny Lazo, Sean Ringrose, Zack Dailey, and Eric Hunter all scored for the Golden Bears. Kurtis Mucha stopped 29 shots in the shutout for Alberta, while Regina's
Adam Ward had 36 saves.
Alberta took the lead in the first period when Fecho scored the first goal eight minutes in. Lazo increased Alberta's lead to two with just six seconds left before the first intermission. The Golden Bears were on the attack again in the second period, as Ringrose scored within the first five minutes and Dailey added another shortly thereafter.
Eric Hunter finished off the scoring for the Golden Bears just past the five-minute mark of the third period. Hunter ended up with one goal and three assists for the Golden Bears, while both Ringrose and Fecho had a goal and two helpers.
The Golden Bears capitalized on the power play by scoring on three of their six opportunities, while Regina was 0-for-5 with the man advantage.
The two teams will face off again on Saturday evening at The Co-Operators Centre. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
