Cougars win first two sets, but drop next three in loss to Bobcats

The University of Regina's women's volleyball team lost a 3-2 decision to the Brandon Bobcats on Friday night at the BU Gymnasium in Brandon.

The Cougars opened the match with 25-17 and 25-12 wins in the first two sets, but Brandon won 25-17 and 25-22 in the third and fourth to force a fifth set. The Bobcats clinched the match with a 15-12 win in the fifth.

Teagan Hunter led the Bobcats with 13 kills and added 16 digs. Erin Visch-Krahn had a team-high 19 digs for Brandon.

Beth Clark had 16 kills, 12 digs, and five total blocks for the Cougars. Meagan Onstad had 13 kills and 18 digs for Regina, while Kaitlyn Hughes and Rebecca Rink both had 17 digs. Third-year setter Tiffany Herman had 46 assists and 14 digs.

The Cougars can still secure a home series in the Canada West quarterfinals with a win over the Bobcats on Saturday. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
