A.J. Whiffen made 35 saves, but the University of Regina's men's hockey team dropped its second game in as many nights to Alberta as the Golden Bears took a 2-0 decision on Saturday night in Edmonton.

Jordan Hickmott opened the scoring with what would turn out to be the game-winning goal near the 12-minute mark of the second period. Sean Ringrose - who assisted on Hickmott's marker - scored the only other goal of the contest midway through the third.

The Cougars' best chance to beat Alberta goalie Real Cyr likely came a few minutes after Ringrose's goal when second-year forward Carter Selinger fired one off the post.

Cyr was called upon to make only 12 saves in the shutout for Alberta, which improves to 2-0-0 on the season.

Regina was 0-for-4 on the power play, while the Golden Bears were scoreless on their three opportunities with the man advantage.

The Cougars (0-2-0) will return to action next weekend with a home-and-home against Saskatchewan. The two teams will square off on Friday, Oct. 14 at The Co-operators Centre and again the following day in Saskatoon.
