The University of Regina's men's basketball team was defeated by No. 9-ranked Victoria by a score of 85-66 on Friday night in Victoria.

Ryan Mackinnon scored a game-high 26 points for the Vikes, who improve their Canada West record to 3-0 on the season. Terrell Evans had 14 points off the bench for Victoria, while Zac Andrus had 11 points and Reese Pribilsky added 10. Mike Berg led all players with eight rebounds.

Paul Gareau was 6-for-8 from the field and 11-for-15 from the free throw line and led the Cougars with 23 points in 29 minutes on the floor. Sterling Nostedt was 3-for-6 from three-point range and scored 15, while Connor Burns had 10 points and a team-leading six rebounds.

Regina (0-2) continues its road trip on Saturday with a game against No. 5 UBC (1-0) in Vancouver.
