Cougars swept by No. 4 Winnipeg

The University of Regina's women's volleyball team suffered a three-set loss to the No. 4-ranked Winnipeg Wesmen on Friday night in a Canada West match at the Duckworth Centre in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg started out the match with a 25-21 win in the first set and won 25-15 in the second to take a commanding 2-0 lead. In the third set, the two teams traded leads up until Winnipeg pulled away with a 12-4 run midway through the set. The Wesmen won 25-19 to clinch the victory.

Ozana Nikolic led Winnipeg with 10 kills, while Brittany Habing had 25 assists and Tesca Andrew-Wasylik had 15 digs.

Meagan Onstad paced the Cougars with 10 digs and nine kills. Roxanne Olynyk had eight kills, with Tiffany Herman ending up with 18 assists and nine digs.

Regina (2-9) and Winnipeg (9-2) will meet again on Saturday night in Winnipeg.
