Cougars start second half with loss to Brandon

The University of Regina's men's basketball team couldn't overcome a quick start by Brandon on Friday night and lost 96-73 to the Bobcats in Canada West action at Brandon University.

The Bobcats outscored Regina by a 31-19 margin in the first quarter, extended the lead to 17 at halftime, and led by as many as 25 points in the third as Brandon improves its Canada West record to 4-5.

Kyle Vince led all scorers with 27 points for Brandon. Four other Bobcats hit double figures in scoring, including Ilarion Bonhomme (15 points), Jordan Reaves (14), Ali Mounir (11), and former Cougar Michael Smith (12).

Playing in his hometown, Sterling Nostedt led the Cougars with 15 points. Connor Burns had 13 points for Regina, while Paul Gareau scored 11 and Brendan Hebert had 10.
