The University of Regina's men's basketball team scored an 83-74 road win over the Brandon Bobcats on Saturday night in Canada West action, giving the Cougars a weekend split and their third conference victory of the season.
Brandon held a one-point advantage after the opening quarter, but the Cougars scored 14 straight points in the second quarter to take the lead for good. Regina led by as many as 19 points in the fourth quarter before a 16-4 run by Brandon brought the home side back into the contest, but the Cougars were able to hold off the Bobcats down the stretch to secure the win.
Jared Janotta set career highs with 22 points and 12 rebounds and added five assists, while
Paul Gareau scored 21 for Regina and
Brendan Hebert finished just short of a triple-double with 10 assists, nine rebounds, and nine points.
Jordan Reaves had 21 points for Brandon (4-6).
The Cougars – tied for sixth in Canada West's East Division with a 3-6 record – will head east again next weekend, as they've got a two-game road series at Manitoba coming up on the Canada West schedule.
