Brandon University took a three-set victory over the University of Regina on Saturday night in Canada West women's volleyball at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

A mere 24 hours after the two teams played a five-set thriller which was eventually won by the Cougars, Saturday's match failed to produce anywhere near the level of drama that Friday's match provided.

Brandon led from start to finish in the first set, which the Bobcats won by a 25-15 margin. In the second set, a 6-1 run around the media timeout gave Brandon the edge and the visitors took a 25-19 win and a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.

The two teams weren't separated by more than three points in the third set until Brandon reeled off five consecutive points to turn a 17-15 lead into a 22-15 advantage. The Cougars replied with three straight points of their own, but Brandon called a timeout and won three of the next four points to take a 25-20 win in the set and clinch the match.

Shanlee McLennan led all players with 12 kills for the Bobcats, while setter Kellie Baker had 33 assists and Chloe Reimer collected a match-high 12 digs.

Desiree Ates led the Cougars in kills (9) for the second night in a row, while Ates and Tori Glynn both had nine digs. Meagan Lane had 30 assists for the U of R.

Both teams are at home next weekend, with Brandon (1-1) hosting Thompson Rivers and Regina (1-1) playing host to Trinity Western.
