No. 3-ranked Pandas sweep Cougars

The University of Alberta Pandas took their second win in as many nights over the Regina Cougars in Canada West women's volleyball on Saturday, winning 25-21, 25-19, and 25-10 to take the match in three sets.

Alyssa Jones led Alberta with nine kills and added 14 assists and a match-high three service aces while hitting .615 in the win, while Jaki Ellis had eight kills and led all players with 21 assists. Alberta libero Jessie Niles collected a match-high 11 digs.

Michelle Sweeting had nine kills and a .438 hitting percentage for the Cougars, while Sweeting, Chelsea Ziolkowski, and Trisha Dobson all had three blocks.

The Cougars (1-5) return home to face Winnipeg (0-5) next weekend at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport. Match time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

NOTES: Daneen Diekrager came on in the third set for the Cougars to make her Canada West debut, ending up with two assists and a dig.
