Box Score

Michelle Sweeting had 11 kills and a match-high .562 hitting percentage as the University of Regina's women's volleyball team scored a straight-sets win over Thompson Rivers on Friday night in Kamloops, B.C.

The Cougars hit .367 as a team in the opening set, which they took by a 25-18 score. The second set was the closest of the three, as the U of R held a late 24-20 lead only to see Thompson Rivers score three consecutive points to get back to within one. Head coach Melanie Sanford called a timeout and the Cougars were finally able to put the WolfPack away, as Meagan Lane set up Chelsea Ziolkowski for one of her five kills of the match to give the visitors a two-set lead in the match.

The Cougars (2-9) never trailed in the third set, clinching the match with a 25-20 win.

Sweeting also had five service aces in the win, tying a school three-set match record set by Lane earlier this season. Tori Glynn had 10 kills and led all players with nine digs, while Lane had 33 assists. The Cougars set a school single-match record with 17 service aces, crushing the old record of 11.

Rachel Murray led Thompson Rivers in both kills (9) and digs (7), while Katarina Osadchuk led all players with six blocks for the WolfPack (0-11).

The two teams will meet again on Saturday night at 5 p.m. PST.
