Cougars topped in four sets by No. 9-ranked UBC Okanagan

The University of Regina's women's volleyball team lost in four sets to UBC Okanagan on Saturday afternoon as both teams returned to the Canada West schedule at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

None of the four sets were close, as UBC Okanagan took 25-16 and 25-18 wins in the first two sets to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match. The Cougars replied with a 25-15 win in the third set to get back in it, but UBC Okanagan hit .353 as a team en route to a match-clinching 25-14 win in the fourth.

Myrte Schon had a team-high 14 kills for UBC Okanagan and led all players with a .355 hitting percentage. She added 10 digs for a double-double, while Alexandra Basso chipped in with nine digs, seven kills, and a match-high six blocks. Rookie setter Emily Oxland dished out 30 assists and added three service aces.

Both Desiree Ates and Tori Glynn had double-doubles for the Cougars in the loss. Ates had 15 kills and 10 digs, while Glynn collected 10 kills and matched Ates with 10 digs. Second-year setter Meagan Lane had 30 assists for the U of R, which falls to 3-10 on the season with the loss.

UBC Okanagan hit .170 as a team in the win as the Heat improve their Canada West record to 8-5.

The two teams will meet again on Sunday afternoon at the CKHS following the conclusion of the men's match. First serve is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
