For the second consecutive afternoon, UBC Okanagan's women's volleyball team took a four-set victory over the Regina Cougars on Sunday at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.
The Heat opened the match with a 25-16 win in the first only to see the Cougars come roaring back with an equally decisive 25-15 win in the second. Back-to-back set wins gave UBC Okanagan (9-5) the win, as the Heat won 25-21 in the third and 25-19 in the fourth to clinch the match.
Alexandra Basso had a team-leading 15 kills for UBC Okanagan, while setter Emily Oxland had 30 assists and also tied Kendra Wayling for the team high with nine digs. Both Wayling and Katy Klomps tied for the match lead with five blocks apiece.
Desiree Ates had 16 kills for the Cougars, while second-year outside hitter
Tori Glynn set a new career high with 12 kills.
Meagan Lane had 42 assists for the U of R, with libero
Megan Semeniuk leading all players with 10 digs.
The Cougars (3-11) are back at home against Mount Royal next weekend, while UBC Okanagan hosts Calgary.
