Mount Royal won its second match over the University of Regina in as many nights on Saturday, winning in straight sets at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

After losing in four to Mount Royal on Friday, the U of R looked like it poised to turn the tables after getting out to a strong start in the first set on Saturday. The home side led by as many as six points after the media timeout, but Mount Royal went on a 7-1 run to take its first lead of the set at 21-20. Mount Royal won three out of four points after a 22-22 draw to end up with a 25-23 win in the first.

The second set was almost the same story, with Regina leading the entire set up to the media timeout until a late Mount Royal run put the visitors into the lead. Mount Royal got back-to-back points off a block from Olivia Grecu and Julia Pasieka and a kill by Pasieka to break a late tie and give the visitors another 25-23 win.

The third set was the least contested of the match, with Mount Royal leading from start to finish and hitting .400 as a team in a 25-16 win.

Carolyn O'Dwyer led Mount Royal with 13 kills and had seven digs and three service aces, while libero Tayler Smith led all players with 13 digs. Pasieka and Kylie Willis both had four blocks for Mount Royal, which improves to 12-4 with the victory.

Michelle Sweeting led the U of R with 14 kills.

Mount Royal returns to action next weekend with a pair of home matches against Trinity Western, while the U of R will prepare for two road matches against Manitoba.
