Box Score

Troy Hunter scored the game's only goal and Andrew Hayes had a 30-save shutout as the University of Regina's men's hockey team earned a 1-0 road win over UBC on Saturday night in Vancouver.

The first two periods of Saturday's game were scoreless, but the Cougars (3-3-0) finally got on the board early in the third when Hunter beat UBC goalie Matt Hewitt with a backhand just over two minutes into the final stanza. Liam Brennan and rookie Cody Fowlie - who now has assists in each of his last four games - drew the helpers on Hunter's goal, his second of the season.

Hayes hasn't allowed a goal in two of his first three starts of the Canada West schedule as the third-year goaltender leads the conference in shutouts.

Hewitt finished with 27 saves for the Thunderbirds, who fall to 1-3-0 with the loss.

The Cougars will hit the road again next weekend for a pair of games at Mount Royal (2-4-0) in Calgary.
