Wesmen sweep Cougars

The University of Regina's women's volleyball team was topped in three sets by Winnipeg on Sunday afternoon as the Wesmen defeated the Cougars for the second straight day at the Duckworth Centre.

Winnipeg opened up with 25-11 and 25-21 wins in the first and second sets, then clinched the match with a 25-15 victory in the third.

Ozana Nikolic had 13 kills and 10 digs while hitting .346 for the Wesmen, while Ellina Domnidou had 33 assists and led all players with four blocks as Winnipeg improves to 3-1 on the season.

The Cougars (0-4) were led by eight kills by Desiree Ates and seven by fourth-year middle Michelle Sweeting. The U of R will now prepare for its home openers next weekend against Calgary (3-1) on campus at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.
