The University of Regina's women's volleyball team suffered a four-set loss to Calgary on Saturday night as the Cougars' 2012-13 season ended at the Jack Simpson Gym on the U of C campus.
Calgary opened up with a 25-14 win in the first, but the Cougars replied with a 25-21 victory in the second to square the match at a set apiece. The Dinos pulled back into the lead with a 25-19 win in the third, then clinched the match with a convincing 25-12 fourth-set victory.
The Dinos' Courtney Dawson had a match-high 15 kills and was a pain in the U of R's side at the net, as she collected 11 total blocks in the win. Andrea Price added 12 kills and 13 digs for Calgary, while Lindsay Doland had nine kills and led all players with 16 digs.
Tori Glynn had a team-high nine kills and added 12 digs for the Cougars, while
Desiree Ates had seven kills and a team-leading 15 digs.
The Cougars finish the Canada West schedule with a 5-17 record and with no fifth-year players on the roster, are expected to return everyone for a 2013-14 season that will end with the University of Regina hosting the 2014 CIS Championship at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.
