Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Cougars complete comeback, top Thunderbirds in OT

The University of Regina women's hockey team rattled off three-straight goals to come back and defeat the No. 5-ranked UBC Thunderbirds 3-2 in overtime on Friday.

Brooklyn Moskowy notched a powerplay marker with 45 seconds left in overtime that completed the comeback for the visiting Cougars. Triston Riemer (pictured) collected her second assist of the game on Moskowy's goal.

Carleen Meszaros and Bailey Braden each had powerplay goals in the third period to knot the game 2-2 and force overtime.

Sarah Casorso opened the scoring for the Thunderbirds on the powerplay with three minutes left in the first period, and Rebecca Unrau put UBC up 2-0 with her goal coming 12 seconds into the second period.

Braden didn't take long to reply, as she converted a Tori Head pass less than a minute after Unrau's goal. Riemer and Stephanie Sawchuk assisted on Meszaros' second goal of the season, which came with just over seven minutes left in regulation.

Jennifer Schmidt was stellar in net again for Regina, collecting her second-straight win while making 38 saves on the night.

Samantha Langford, a native of Pense, Sask., made 29 stops between the pipes for the Thunderbirds.

Regina improves to 1-3-2-1 with the win. UBC falls to 3-1-1-2.

The two teams are to battle again on Saturday, with game-time scheduled for 8 p.m. Saskatchewan time.
