Cougars win streak snapped by Mount Royal

The University of Regina women's hockey team dropped the second of a two-game set 2-0 against Mount Royal University in Calgary on Saturday.

Sarah Weninger scored her third of the season on the powerplay two and a half minutes into the third period for what would turn out to be the game-winning goal.
Janessa Jenkins added an empty-netter late to seal the 2-0 win for MRU.

Emma Pincott made 18 saves for the shutout as Mount Royal recorded their first regulation victory of the season.
Toni Ross (pictured) stopped 22 out of 23 shots that she faced between the pipes for Regina.

The Cougars were plagued by penalties in this one, as they had 12 penalty minutes as opposed to Mount Royal's 2.

Kylie Gavelin and Brooklyn Moskowy both had five shots on net for the Cougars, who fall to 3-6-4-1 with the loss. The loss snaps Regina's five-game win streak.

The Cougars will be back in action next weekend as they travel to Lethbridge for a pair of games.
