Both the Cougars (1-3-3-1) and the Pronghorns (1-0-7-0) are both coming off bye weeks. The Cougars split a pair of games at UBC while Lethbridge lost two games at Manitoba the week before.
Regina is led by third-year forward
Kylie Gavelin, who is currently tied for 12th in Canada West with six points on the season. The Mankota, Sask. native is also tied for eighth in the conference with four goals, matching her career-high from both of her first two seasons.
Carleen Meszaros (pictured),
Bailey Braden and
Tori Head have each registered three points during the Canada West schedule for the Cougars.
Jennifer Schmidt and
Toni Ross have split time in net for the Cougars, with both goaltenders starting four games to this point. The two have posted nearly identical save percentages this season, as Schmidt is at .926 and Ross is at a .927 clip.
"Our goaltenders have both played great so far," head coach
Sarah Hodges said. "They're giving us a chance to win games and that's all that we can ask of them."
The Pronghorns' leading scorer is Jenae Culp, a third-year forward from Leduc, Alta. Culp's stat line is the same as Gavelin's with four goals and six points through eight games this season.
Crystal Patterson has started all eight games between the pipes for the Pronghorns, and has faced a conference-high 287 shots.
"We'll need to approach this game just like any other, we must be prepared to battle," Hodges added. "We've played sound defensive hockey and we're improving on the offensive end; we've seen good play on both ends from our leaders and more senior players."
Both games are set for 7 p.m. starts at The Co-operators Centre.
