The University of Regina women's hockey team was outlasted by the Manitoba Bisons on Friday night, losing 2-1 in overtime.
Erica Rieder and Alana Serhan scored for the Bisons.
Carleen Meszaros (pictured) scored the lone goal for the Cougars.
Rieder unleashed a slapshot from the point early in the first period that beat
Toni Ross for her first career CIS goal.
The Bisons held their 1-0 lead until the third period when Meszaros sent a wrist shot from the point that beat a screened Rachel Dyck to knot the game at 1-1.
Kylie Gavelin assisted on Meszaros's fourth of the campaign.
The two teams continued to battle through regulation but nothing would be solved after 60 minutes.
Triston Riemer was whistled for a holding penalty in overtime that send Manitoba to a 4-on-3 advantage. Serhan would take advantage, squeezing a low shot under the pad of Ross and into the net.
Ross stopped 29 shots in the loss. Dyck made 28 saves for the Bisons.
Regina drops to 4-6-7-2 with the loss, while Manitoba improves to 10-3-5-1.
The two teams will battle again on Saturday afternoon.
