The University of Regina women's hockey team will continue the Canada West campaign this weekend in Calgary with a pair of games against the Dinos.

The Cougars are coming off a split at home against the UBC Thunderbirds, a weekend that featured a lot of scoring for the two teams.

Regina won the Friday night showdown in spectacular fashion, exploding for three first-period goals before adding another in the second to win 4-0. The Thunderbirds battled back on Saturday, eventually taking a 3-2 decision.

Emma Waldenberger scored on Friday, and
Stephanie Sawchuk (pictured) and Braden scored on Saturday.

Toni Ross received the nod between the pipes on both nights, stopping 37 shots on Friday and 34 on Saturday.

The Cougars remain in the sixth spot in Canada West with a 5-6-9-2 record and 29 points. Calgary is currently third in the conference with a 12-1-5-4 record totalling 42 points.

The Cougars are led by
Kylie Gavelin, who has 10 goals and three assists. Fifth-year defenceman and team captain
Triston Riemer is second on the team with 10 points, all of them assists. Meszaros, Waldenberger and
Brooklyn Moskowy have each tallied nine points.

Ross has split time in net with
Jennifer Schmidt, and the two have posted similar numbers. Ross is at 50601 with a 1.97 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage. Schmidt has posted marks of 6-3-1, 2.35 and .921

Calgary is coming off 5-0 and 4-0 wins over the Lethbridge Pronghorns last weekend.

II Gavrilova leads Canada West in points, with 34 in 22 games. Gavrilova has 19 goals and has notched 15 assists on the season. Janelle Parent is second on the team with 21 points and Hayley Wickenheiser is third with 19.
Hayley Dowling has been the number one option in net for the Dinos, and has a 9-3-2 record to show. Her 1.62 goals-against average is third in the conference and she has a .933 save percentage.
Friday's game is set for 8 p.m. in Calgary and Saturday's contest is slated for 4 p.m.
