SUNDAY: vs. UNBC Timberwolves, noon, U of R Field
The University of Regina women's soccer team is back at home this weekend after suffering two losses in a home-and-home set with the Saskatchewan Huskies last weekend.
The Cougars will play host to the Alberta Pandas on Saturday afternoon before matching up with the University of Northern British Columbia Timberwolves on Sunday. Both games are slated for noon at the U of R Field.
Regina struck first in Saturday's match at the U of R Field, but ended up falling 3-1. Sunday's rematch in Saskatoon proved to be a runaway for the Huskies, as Saskatchewan came away with a 4-0 win.
Karlee Vorrieter (pictured) scored the weekend's only goal for the Cougars, putting away a rebound in the second minute in Saturday's match.
The Cougars were outshot 12-6 on Saturday and 18-3 on Sunday. In the two matches, the Huskies put 16 shots on net while Regina could only muster five.
Savannah Williams surrendered three goals in the first half on Saturday before veteran
Kacey McFee came on in relief. McFee stopped the only shot she faced in the opener before making four saves on eight shots in 90 minutes of work in the rematch.
The Pandas are sporting a 5-4-1 record after winning back-to-back games against UNBC last weekend. Alberta hosted the Timberwolves, coming away with 4-0 and 1-0 wins.
Leading the way for Alberta's offence is Kristen Livingstone, who has four goals in seven games played. Julia Ignacio has also chipped in with three goals and three assists. Cassie Bazzarelli has gotten the nod in net in six out of the Pandas' 10 games this season, stopping 27 shots and posting a 4-2-0 record.
Meanwhile, the Timberwolves (0-7-3) have only managed three goals this season, with two of them coming off the foot of Sydney Hall. Ashley Anderson has the other marker for UNBC.
Jordan Hall has started all 10 games in net for the Timberwolves, registering 74 saves on 100 shots.
