Game Recap: Rams Football |

No. 1 Dinos cruise to 57-7 win over Rams

The University of Regina Rams were defeated by a 57-7 margin by the CIS No. 1-ranked Calgary Dinos on Saturday afternoon in Canada West action at McMahon Stadium in Calgary.

The two teams played a Week 4 battle in Regina that saw a quiet first quarter before Calgary exploded in the second, and Saturday's game followed a similar script. The Dinos led 8-0 after the first, and outscored the Rams 25-7 in the second to take a 33-7 lead at the break.

The Rams cut the deficit to 18-7 after Riley Wilson's touchdown reception in the second and it looked like it might just be a two-possession game at halftime, but Calgary scored two majors in the final two minutes to give the hometown Dinos plenty of momentum heading into the second half.

The second half was all Dinos, with Calgary scoring 12 points in both quarters to get up to its eventual 50-point margin of victory.

Andrew Buckley was 21-for-28 and finished with 328 passing yards and two touchdown passes for the Dinos, and the fifth-year pivot also scrambled four times for 42 yards, including a three-yard touchdown run early in the fourth.

Brendon Thera-Plamondon led Calgary with seven catches for 103 yards and a touchdown, while Brett Blaszko was just short of triple digits with six catches for 98 yards.

Highlighting the game for the Rams defence was likely the team coming up with a season-high four sacks, including two by Mason Rossler (pictured) and one apiece by Danny Nesbitt and Jeff Propp.

Atlee Simon finished with 14 carries for 78 yards for the Rams, including a game-long 34-yard rush in the first quarter. The Rams used all three quarterbacks on their game-day roster, with Noah Picton starting and both Tyler Vieira and Ellis Richards seeing action in the fourth quarter.

The Rams (0-7) will finish the 2015 campaign next Friday with a home game against Saskatchewan (2-5).
