The University of Regina's men's basketball team fell to 3-2 on the season after an 84-65 setback to the Alberta Golden Bears on Friday at the Saville Centre in Edmonton.
The Cougars led by eight at one point early in the second quarter, but Alberta closed the half on a 20-4 run and led by double digits the rest of the way. Mamadou Gueye led Alberta with 22 points, while Brody Clarke had 15 points and nine rebounds for the Golden Bears.
Alex Igual led the Cougars with 15 points and six steals, while
Jonathan Tull (13 points) and
Stephen Shields (10) also scored in double figures in the loss.
The two teams will close out their weekend series on Saturday night at the Saville Centre. Game time is set for 7:00 (MST).
