The University of Regina's men's basketball team recorded its first win of the non-conference schedule after defeating Brandon by a 92-78 score on Friday night at the Healthy Living Centre in Brandon.

Brian Ofori sparked a 10-0 run for the Cougars in the third quarter, starting it off with a triple and ending it with a dunk. Those 10 consecutive points turned a four-point Regina lead into a 14-point advantage for the visiting Cougars, and an 8-0 run in the fourth put the Cougars up by 15 with under four minutes remaining.

Six different Cougars scored in double digits, led by
Alex Igual's 14 points. Ofori finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double, while
Johneil Johnson,
Stephen Shields, and
Kornel Tokolyi each scored 12.
Travis Sylvestre finished with 10 points, while both
Matthew Augustine and
Samuel Hillis had eight points as the Cougars spread around the offence with great effect.

Tyvon Cooper led Brandon with 19 points.

The win improves Regina's non-conference record to 1-6. The Cougars continue the non-conference schedule next weekend at the 2016 RBC Classic hosted by Brock University in St. Catharines, Ont. The Cougars will play Guelph on Friday, UQAM on Saturday, and Ryerson on Sunday.
