The University of Regina men's hockey team is on the road this weekend for a couple of tilts against No. 7-ranked Mount Royal University in Calgary.
The Cougars (1-7-0) are coming off a pair of losses to Alberta, falling 5-2 and 4-0 to the visiting Golden Bears.
Tyson Predinchuk and
Zach McPhee scored on Friday, while
Andy Desautels took the loss in net.
Dawson MacAuley was the losing goaltender on Saturday.
J.J. Coleshaw and
Landon Peel have four points apiece to lead the way for the Cougars.
Tristan Frei,
Dillan McCombie,
Ian McNulty and
Isaac Schacher (pictured) are each up to three points on the season.
Desuatels has made appearances in seven games between the pipes, recording a 3.81 goals-against average and a .894 save percentage. MacAuley has hit marks of 3.13 and .911 in just over a game's worth of action.
Mount Royal is tied for third in Canada West, sporting a 5-3-0 record. MRU split with the first-place Saskatchewan Huskies last weekend, winning Friday's game 6-0 before the Huskies responded with a 6-2 win on Saturday.
Leading the charge offensively for MRU are Matthew Brown and Jamal Watson, who each have eight points. Connor Rankin and Jesse Lees are right behind with seven, while Luke Simpson has chipped in with six.
Colin Cooper has been the go-to guy in net for Mount Royal, playing in seven of the team's eight games. The second-year Calgary product has a 2.26 GAA and a .920 save percentage to go with his 5-2-0 record.
Friday's game will face off at 7 p.m. at the Flames Community Arena, while Saturday's rematch is set for 3 p.m.
