The University of Regina women's soccer team was downed 1-0 by Mount Royal University in Calgary on Saturday.
The deciding goal came in the 84th minute, when Sarah Morely took a feed from Jolee Dangerfield and slid a low shot to the bottom right corner, past the outstretched hand of
Ashton Lowry.
MRU outshot the Cougars 11-9 on the match, but the Cougars only hit the target with three of their shots compared to Mount Royal's seven shots on Lowry. Lowry stopped six shots, including a tremendous save in the 86th minute on a partial break by Erin Holt.
Karlee Vorrieter,
Brigit Sinaga and
Nikita Senko each put a shot on MRU keeper Miah Godek, who handled all of them.
The Cougars (1-2-2) will look to bounce back against the MacEwan Griffins on Sunday. Kick off is set for noon.
