The University of Regina women's soccer team dropped a 5-0 decision against No. 10-ranked Trinity Western on Friday night, falling to 0-6-5 for the 2017 Canada West season.
Trinity Western (9-2-0) posted its eighth consecutive shutout win, but what is even more impressive is that Friday's match marked the fourth-straight game that the Spartans have not surrendered even one shot on goal.
Danae Derksen had two goals for TWU, and Rachel Hutchinson, Elizabeth Hicks and Jenaya Robertson also found the net. The Cougars were forced to play with 10 players for much of the match after
Lauren Petras was given a red card in the 37
th minute.
The Spartans outshot the Cougars 22-1 and placed 11 shots on target opposed to zero from the Cougars.
Regina will head to Abbotsford for a Saturday night match against the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades (4-4-3). UFV is coming off a 2-2 draw with the Saskatchewan Huskies on Friday night.
