The University of Regina's women's basketball team finished off the Cougar Classic non-conference tournament with a convincing 107-55 win over Brandon on Sunday at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

The two teams were evenly matched through the first quarter, but it was all Cougars after that. Regina went on a 13-4 run in the second to help the Cougars take a 53-35 lead into halftime, and in the third quarter the U of R continued to pull away. The Cougars outscored Brandon 23-15 in the third, then 31-5 in the fourth with both teams well into their bench.

The victory improves Regina's non-conference record to 7-1 as the Cougars have now won seven consecutive games after opening up their schedule with a road loss to McGill.

Alexi Rowden was a perfect 7-for-7 from the field and led the Cougars with 17 points, while
Britton Belyk added 14 points and
Caitlin Zacharias scored 13.

Hailey Maas was Brandon's leading scorer with 10 points.

The Cougars will be back in action next weekend in Calgary with two more non-conference matches against Canada West opponents. They'll play Thompson Rivers on Friday and Victoria on Saturday.
