The University of Regina's women's basketball team has now won nine consecutive non-conference games after defeating both Thompson Rivers and Victoria over the weekend in a pair of neutral-site games in Calgary.
Both of the victories were of the convincing variety, with the Cougars defeating TRU by a 75-47 score on Friday before following that up with an 87-52 win over the Vikes on Saturday.
Carolina Goncalves had her best game in a U of R uniform against Thompson Rivers, going 10-for-13 from the field and leading all players with 25 points while also pulling down eight rebounds.
Charlotte Kot added 14 points and nine rebounds for the Cougars, while
Avery Pearce came off the bench to score 13 points.
Goncalves was again the game's leading scorer on Saturday against Victoria, finishing with 16 points.
Christina McCusker added 13 points and a team-leading seven rebounds, while Kot scored 12 points and pulled down six rebounds.
The Cougars finish their non-conference schedule with a 9-1 record against U SPORTS opposition, with the only blemish on their record a season-opening road loss to a McGill team which could be ranked No. 1 in the country to open up the year. Regina will host Minot State next Saturday, Oct. 28 in an afternoon exhibition game before the Cougars start the Canada West schedule on Nov. 3 and Nov. 4 at Manitoba.
