The University of Regina's women's volleyball team was defeated in three sets by No. 5 Mount Royal on Friday night in Calgary.
Cassidy Kitchen and Alex Donaghy led MRU to 25-20, 25-16, and 25-15 wins as Mount Royal improves its Canada West record to 4-1 on the season.
Donaghy had a match-high 13 kills and hit .550 while also collecting eight service aces, five of which came during a seven-point run early in the second set. Donaghy also had six digs and four blocks, while Kitchen had eight kills and a .583 hitting percentage. Quinn Pelland added 13 digs for Mount Royal, while Allisa Dandenhault had 29 assists and Carly Davies collected a match-high five blocks.
Ashlee Sandiford had five kills for Regina, which falls to 2-5 with the loss. Libero
Taylor Ungar (pictured) added 11 digs to her Canada West-leading total and now has 100 in seven matches this season.
The two teams will finish off the weekend series on Saturday afternoon following the conclusion of the men's match. First serve is set for 3:30 (MST).
