The University of Regina men's hockey team is on the road for the weekend, heading to Calgary for a pair of Canada West contests against the No. 9-ranked Calgary Dinos.
Regina (1-7-2) was swept by Manitoba last weekend, dropping a 6-1 decision on Friday before a 6-5 double-overtime result on Saturday afternoon. Zak Zborosky scored on Friday before collecting three assists in Saturday's loss. Tyler King, Austin Bourhis, Ian McNulty, Carter Hansen and Cody Fowlie found the net on Saturday.
Regina Report
Zborosky is first among Canada West rookies and is tied for the team lead with 11 points to his credit. McNulty also has 11 points while Brody Luhning has chipped in with 10 assists. Fowlie and King have each added four goals and three assists to the Cougar attack.
Michael Herringer got the start in both contests against the Bisons, making 21 saves on Friday before giving way to Dawson MacAuley who stopped another 12 Bison efforts. Herringer went the distance on Saturday, stopping 30 shots. The first-year netminder has a 5.14 goals-against average and a .858 save percentage while MacAuley has marks of 3.55 and .919 in two appearances this season.
The Opposition
The Dinos split with Mount Royal last weekend in a home-and-home series, with each team winning in the other's rink. MRU earned a 3-2 win on Friday but Calgary rebounded with a 5-1 win the following evening to improve to 5-2-3.
Fourth-year forward Cain Franson leads the Dinos with 12 points while Chris Collins and Dylan Busenius have 10 each. Three Dinos have contributed five goals to the offense, with Franson, Coda Gordon and rookie Riley Sheen hitting that mark.
Matthew Greenfield has made seven appearances in net for Calgary, posting a 2.21 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage. Jordan Papirny has two wins in three starts and has a 1.67 GAA and .940 save percentage.
