The University of Regina women's hockey team is away from home again this weekend for a pair of games against the No. 3-ranked UBC Thunderbirds.
The Cougars (6-9-1-2) are coming off a tough weekend against Mount Royal, which saw MRU goalie Zoe De Beauville post back-to-back shutouts. MRU took a 1-0 shootout win on Friday night then completed the weekend sweep with a 3-0 victory on Saturday.
UBC swept Calgary a weekend ago, keeping them in second place in Canada West. The T-Birds (11-4-1-2) took 2-0 and 3-0 wins on home ice against the Dinos.
The Cougars have won just two of their last 10 Canada West games, and haven't found the net in 218:15 minutes. Regina will look to leading scorers
Jaycee Magwood (4G, 5A),
Emma Waldenberger (5G, 3A),
Jordan Kulbida (4G, 4A) and
Tamara McVannel (5G, 2A) to break the slump.
Jane Kish made the start in net for both games against MRU a week ago, stopping all 23 shots she faced in regulation on Friday and making 22 saves on Saturday.
Morgan Baker has made five appearances this season, picking up one win and posting a .893 save percentage.
UBC is led by Hannah Clayton-Carroll who has notched nine goals and three assists in 18 games. Mathea Fischer has two goals and nine helpers while Celine Tardiff has four goals and six assists.
The Cougars and Thunderbirds met in Regina in October, with UBC taking the opener 4-3 before Regina bounced back for a 1-0 win the following evening on a McVannel marker.
