The University of Regina's women's volleyball team has now won four consecutive matches after outlasting No. 9-ranked Trinity Western for a five-set road win on Friday night at the Langley Events Centre.

The Cougars used a big late surge in the fifth and deciding set to overcome a late Trinity Western lead which saw the Spartans go up 12-10 after a kill by Michaella Crema. The Cougars scored the next four points on back-to-back kills by
Ashlee Sandiford and
Haley Wagar, a TWU attack error, and a block by Wagar and
Kathleen Ens.

TWU got the next point on a kill by Hilary Howe, but the Cougars made good on their second attempt at match point when Wagar hit it off the block for her 11th kill of the night.

The win improves Regina's record to 9-8 on the season as the Cougars keep pace with Alberta and Saskatchewan, who also sit at 9-8 as both teams also won on Friday night. The three teams sit in a tie for fifth place in the Canada West standings.

Sandiford finished as Regina's leader with 13 kills and added 13 digs for a double-double while also registering five service aces.
Satomi Togawa had 38 assists and a match-high 18 digs, while Ens added seven kills and was key at the net for the Cougars with eight blocks.

Katelyn Devaney had 13 kills for Trinity Western, which falls to 12-5 on the season with the loss.

Regina will go for the weekend on Saturday night in Langley. First serve is scheduled for 5:00 (PST).

NOTES: The Cougars' four-match winning string is their longest since the 2013-14 season, when they had separate five-match and four-match streaks.
