Faith Reid poured in seven three-pointers to lead the University of Regina's women's basketball team to a big 81-43 win over York on Saturday in a consolation semifinal at the Darcel Wright Memorial Classic in Toronto.
Regina was in control of this one from the outset. The Cougars jumped out to a 26-4 lead after the opening quarter, and extended that lead to 50-20 at halftime. Today's victory sends the Cougars to the fifth-place game on Sunday, where they'll square off against a Western team that lost 76-41 to Saskatchewan in its tournament opener but defeated McGill 69-48 on Saturday.
Reid, who was 7-for-11 from three-point range in the win, finished with a game-high 23 points for the Cougars.
Kyanna Giles had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while
Gabby Kukura added 1 1 points for the U of R.
Chante Clarke led York with 11 points.
Regina and Western will tip off at 12:00 PM (ET) on Sunday afternoon.
