The University of Regina women's hockey team dropped a 2-0 decision against the hometown Saskatchewan Huskies at Merlis Belsher Place on Saturday night.
A day after shutting out the Huskies with an identical score, the Cougars were on the wrong end of the shutout against the 10th-ranked team in the country.
The Huskies had two powerplay goals on Saturday, as Bailee Bourassa set up Chloe Smith in the first period and Smith returned the favour to Bourassa in the third frame.
Jessica Vance got the nod in goal for the Huskies on Saturday, stopping all 35 Cougar shots.
Morgan Baker made 25 saves in net for the Cougars.
After testing Vance just three times in the first frame, the Cougars were swarming the Saskatchewan net with 16 shots on goal in both the second and third periods. Baker was out of her net for the final 4:35 of regulation, but Vance shut the door on the Cougars to preserve the shutout.
The Cougars fall to 4-3-0-1 with the weekend split, while the Huskies sit at 4-2-2-0. Both teams will be off next weekend as the Canada West bye week rolls through.
