Three-set win completes weekend sweep for Cougars over Winnipeg

Box Score Jessica Lerminiaux (pictured) and Ashlee Sandiford both had 11 kills to lead the University of Regina's women's volleyball team to a three-set victory over the Winnipeg Wesmen on Saturday night at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

Lerminiaux's 11 kills came on just 20 attacks as she had a blistering .400 hitting percentage in the win. The Cougars opened the match with twin 25-18 wins in the first two sets, then went on a 4-1 run after a late timeout in the third set and clinched the match with a 25-21 victory.

Sandiford also had 10 digs to collect her second double-double in as many nights for Regina, which improves to 2-2 on the season. Taylor Ungar tied for the match lead with 17 digs, while Satomi Togawa had 36 assists and a match-leading three service aces.

Ashleigh Laube led all players with 14 kills for Winnipeg with teammate Kalena Schulz chipping in with 12 kills which came while hitting at a .345 clip. Emma Parker added seven kills and tied Ungar for the match lead with 17 digs.

The Wesmen (0-2) will now prepare for their home openers next weekend against UBC Okanagan, while the Cougars will travel to southern Alberta for a pair of matches at Calgary.
