The University of Regina men's hockey team fell 6-0 to the No. 3-ranked Alberta Golden Bears at Clare Drake Arena on Friday night.
Grayson Pawlenchuk had two goals for Alberta, while Jason Fram, Riley Kieser, Brandon Magee and Clayton Kirichenko also found the net as the Golden Bears improve to 6-3-0.
Dawson MacAuley was busy in net for Regina, making 37 saves in two periods of work. Brandon Holtby came on in relief for the third period, stopping 15 shots. Zach Sawchenko made 16 saves for the home squad for his first shutout of the season.
Goals from Fram, Pawlenchuk and Kieser in the first period set the tone for Alberta, as the Bears outshot Regina 22-5 in the frame. A powerplay marker early in the second period from Magee and goals from Pawlenchuk and Kirichenko in the third sealed the deal.
Regina was 0-for-6 with the powerplay while Alberta went 3-for-7 with the man advantage.
The Cougars drop to 2-6-1 with the result, and will look for revenge with a Saturday evening tilt against the same Alberta team.Â
