The University of Regina men's hockey team will close the home portion of its Canada West regular season schedule this weekend with a two-game set against the Calgary Dinos.
The Cougars (3-19-2) are coming off a rough weekend in Winnipeg against the Manitoba Bisons, where they fell 8-6 and 7-1. Friday night's game was the highest-scoring contest in Canada West this season, but the Cougar comeback fell short. Landon Peel scored twice and Ben Duperreault, Jordan Burns, Zach McPhee and Stephen Langford also scored for Regina.
Cougar Brief
Zak Zborosky leads the Cougars with 22 points coming into the weekend, though he has missed Regina's last five games due to injury. Cody Fowlie has seven goals and 12 assists, Ian McNulty has five goals and 13 helpers, and Brody Luhning has added one goal and 15 assists from the blue line. Tristan Frei is also in double digits with seven goals and three assists.
The Cougars have rotated goaltenders in the last few weeks with Brandon Holtby making two recent appearances. The first-year netminder has posted an impressive .912 save percentage in his two games of action, while Michael Herringer has appeared in 17 games this season and Dawson MacAuley has seen time in 11. Herringer has a 5.30 goals-against average and a .851 save percentage, while MacAuley has posted marks of 4.45 and .887.

Calgary took two wins from Mount Royal in the Crowchild Classic last weekend, winning 6-5 and 4-2 over rival MRU. Calgary (8-13-3) is currently tied with Lethbridge for the sixth and final Canada West playoff spot.
Cain Franson and Chris Collins lead the way offensively for the Dinos, as Franson has 11 goals and nine assists and Collins has added seven goals and 13 helpers. Dylan Busenius is among the Canada West leaders in points by a defenceman with four goals and 13 assists, and fellow blueliner Drydn Dow is right behind him with five goals and 10 assists.
Matthew Greenfield and Jordan Papirny have split time in goal for the Dinos, with Greenfield playing in 14 games and Papirny getting the call in 11. Greenfield has a 2.72 GAA and a .906 save percentage and Papirny has a 2.33 GAA to go with a .919 save percentage. Both goalies have one shutout to their credit.
The Matchup
The Cougars and Dinos met back in the middle of November in Calgary, with Regina taking the opener 3-2 before Calgary replied with a 3-2 win of their own the following day. Fowlie, Frei and McPhee were the goal scorers for Regina on Nov. 17, with McPhee picking up the winner midway through the third.
