The University of Regina women's hockey team is set for a best-of-three Canada West quarterfinal series against the No. 2-ranked Alberta Pandas this weekend.
The matchup features the number four and five seeds in Canada West, as Saskatchewan edged Alberta for a first-round bye and the Cougars used wins on the last weekend to punch their ticket to the postseason.
The Cougars (8-14-2-4) enter the playoffs riding a three-game winning streak, having swept Lethbridge a weekend ago and beating Calgary before that to claim fifth spot in the Canada West standings.Â
Regina Review
Lilla Carpenter-Boesch has been a big part in the Cougars' recent success, registering six goals in the last three Cougar wins. Carpenter-Boesch and her linemates Emma Waldenberger and Kylee Kupper had a big weekend against Lethbridge, combining for 13 points as the Cougars won 4-3 in double overtime on Friday and 3-2 the following afternoon.
Waldenberger registered the most points for the Cougars this season, picking up eight goals and 10 assists. Jaycee Magwood added seven goals and six assists while Tamara McVannel chipped in with five goals and six helpers from the blue line. Carpenter-Boesch, Kupper and Bailey Braden all finished the conference schedule with 10 points.
Jane Kish and Morgan Baker both saw plenty of action in net for the Coguars, with Kish making 17 appearances and Baker making 12. Kish had a 1.76 goals-against average and a .932 save percentage, while Baker hit marks of 2.82 and .897.

Both skaters had 12 goals for Alberta, while Deanna Morin had 15 points and Amy Boucher and Kennedy Ganser each tallied 14 during the regular season.
