The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns scored three goals in the first seven minutes and went on to a 4-1 victory over the Regina Cougars on Friday night in a Canada West game in Lethbridge.
Brooks Maxwell and Dallas Valentine scored just 39 seconds apart early in the opening frame, chasing Cougar starter
Dawson MacAuley. But Lethbridge scored again just over two minutes later, with Valentine adding an assist on a Landon Gross goal which gave the Pronghorns a 3-0 lead.
The Cougars actually held a significant edge in shots through 40 minutes as they fired 30 on net compared to just 18 for Lethbridge, but couldn't beat Pronghorns goalie Taz Burman until the third. After Torrin White scored on the power play for Lethbridge to put the Pronghorns up four, the Cougars solved Burman when
Tanner Campbell unleashed a one-timer from the point with a two-man advantage for his first goal of the campaign.

But the Cougars couldn't draw any closer. Burman ended up stopping 40 of Regina's 41 shots in the win, while Holtby played well in relief with saves on 26 of Lethbridge's 28 shots.
Regina was 1-for-7 on the power play, while Lethbridge scored once on its four opportunities with the man advantage.
The Cougars (0-3-0) will try to pick up a series split on Saturday afternoon as they'll face off against Lethbridge again beginning at 1:00.
