Arthur Miller's late third-period goal helped lift the University of Regina's men's hockey team to a 2-1 road victory over UBC on Friday night in Vancouver.
With just over a minute left in regulation,
Conner Chaulk forced a turnover at the Regina blue line and then led a 3-on-2 into the UBC zone. Chaulk slid a nice pass over to a trailing Miller in the slot, who fired a shot low glove side for his first goal of the year.
Brandon Holtby was brilliant in net for the Cougars, stopping 38 of 39 shots fired his way by UBC. The only puck that beat Holtby came off the stick of Quinn Benjafield with six minutes to go in the second.
The Cougars opened the scoring eight minutes into the game on the power play.
Tristan Frei attempted a centering pass, but instead bounced it off a UBC shin pad and past UBC netminder Patrick Dea.
Dea finished with 23 saves for UBC, including one on a penalty shot by Miller just minutes into the contest.
The two teams will finish off the weekend series with a game on Saturday afternoon. Puck drop is set for 3:00 PDT.
