The University of Regina's women's basketball team lost its Cougar Classic matchup to the University of Saskatchewan Huskies by the score of 59-46 on Saturday night at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.
 
Right from tip off the Huskies got out to an 11-3 lead, but that was quickly overcome by the Cougars who took the lead 14-13 at the end of the first quarter. The Cougars led 25-21 at halftime, but the Huskies came out strong after the break and led 41-36 before taking control of the game in the fourth. Saskatchewan closed out the game by outscoring the Cougars 18-10 in the final period.
 
For the Cougars, Michaela Kleisinger and Macaela Crone both had double-digit point totals with 14 and 13, respectively. Kleisinger and Crone ended up with double-doubles as well with 10 rebounds apiece.
 
The Huskies' Kyla Shand recorded a double-double as well with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Sabine Dukate led the Huskies in scoring with 18 points. The Huskies bench helped out by adding 16 points, including five apiece from Christy Fehr and Claudia Lomba Viana.
 
The Cougars (1-1) will finish up the preseason tournament tomorrow at 1:00 PM against Lethbridge while the Huskies (2-0) face off against Concordia at 11:00 AM.
