University of Regina women's basketball head coach Dave Taylor announced Tuesday that Dr. Martin LeBoldus High School guard Jade Belmore has committed to the Cougars and will join the program for the 2020-21 season.

Besides helping lead LeBoldus to provincial championships in each of the past two seasons, Belmore was also named the tournament MVP earlier this year as the Golden Suns won the 67th Luther Invitational Tournament in Regina.

"Jade is a massive addition for us," Taylor said. "She has the type of game that will translate perfectly into U SPORTS. As good as she is on the court, she's an even better fit into our culture. I believe Jade will be an all-star for us in the future."

Belmore has also played in three Canada Basketball national championships with Team Saskatchewan, winning bronze with the provincial team at the 15U level in 2017. She also played for Team Saskatchewan at the 17U tournament in both 2018 and 2019.

The addition of Belmore will come at a crucial time for the Cougars, as they'll lose graduating guards Michaela Kleisinger and Avery Pearce after this season. Belmore is the first member of Taylor's recruiting class for next year to be announced.
