Kleisinger finalizes women's basketball recruiting class for 2026-27

Dalhousie transfer Sarah Valley to come back home, join Cougars

6/10/2026 3:39:00 PM

University of Regina women's basketball head coach Michaela Kleisinger wrapped up her 2026-27 recruiting class on Monday with the commitment of Sarah Valley, a guard from Regina who transfers to the Cougars from Dalhousie University in Halifax, N.S.

Valley, the older sister of Cougars guard Josie Valley, played the 2022-23, 2023-24, and 2024-25 seasons with Dalhousie. She appeared in 60 AUS games with the Tigers, averaging 4.6 points in 17.4 minutes played in her three years there. Valley starred for Winston Knoll Collegiate in Regina before heading east to enroll at Dalhousie, and will now pursue her Master of Kinesiology degree at the U of R.

"Our roster for next season is going to be extremely young, so we're so excited to have Sarah come in to be a stabilizing presence on this team," Kleisinger said. "She's a fourth-year player ready to come in and make an impact as a good shooter and just a really smart basketball player. I'm so excited she chose to come back to Regina."

Chloe Collins, a 5-9 guard, comes to the Cougars from Vernon Secondary in Vernon, B.C. Collins led the Panthers to the school's first ever provincial title last season, dropping 30 points in the 3A championship game to help win tournament MVP honours. She was also part of Team British Columbia at last year's Canada Summer Games in St. John's, N.L.

"Chloe is a shooting guard with a scorer's mentality and her skill set is going to be a great fit for us," Kleisinger said. "I know she's excited to be part of the program and we're happy she chose the U of R. Simply put, Chloe is a baller and I can't wait to see how she progresses during her time here."

Ella Plummer and Olivia Plummer announced their commitment to the Cougars in March. Both out of Sir Wilfrid Laurier Secondary School in London, Ont., Ella is a 5-6 guard and Olivia is a 5-7 guard. They'll become the first twins to play for the Cougars since Kyanna Giles and Kyia Giles, who suited up for the U of R between 2016 and 2019.

"Ella projects as a fast point guard who can handle the ball and wants to be disruptive on defence, while Olivia has the ability to score in any type of way and has great basketball instincts," Kleisinger said. "They're both gym rats with super high basketball IQs and they're going to be great fits here at the U of R."

And the 2026-27 edition of the Cougars will also feature a third set of sisters. The other siblings on the Cougars will be veteran guard Eden Wells and her younger sister Jael Wells, whose commitment to the U of R was announced back in December.

The Cougars also announced the commitments of Harvest City post Kai-Lynn Clive in December and Orangeville Prep guard Janaya McPherson in March, giving the team a strong seven-player incoming class as Kleisinger looks to replace the contributions of departed players Jade Belmore, Cara Misskey, Rachel Vanderhooft, Taylor Gottselig, and Brenna Metz.
